Advisory & accounting for growing businesses
For businesses that outgrew their spreadsheets.
I help small and mid-sized companies remove the bottlenecks that keep them from growing — the manual processes, the disconnected systems, and the work that only lives in one person's head.
Most consultants can tell you what's broken. Most developers don't understand your books. I do both.
The bottleneck is usually one of three things
Most of the businesses I work with are somewhere between $2M and $50M in revenue, and every one of them recognizes at least one of these.
Everything runs through one person
The close, the reporting, the one spreadsheet nobody else understands. When they're out, the work stops — and you can't grow past what they can personally carry.
The data exists but nobody can see it
It's in the accounting system, the field app, and eleven spreadsheets that don't agree. By the time someone reconciles it, the month it described is over.
You'd need to hire, but you can't
The role you actually need is half controller, half analyst, half systems person. That person is expensive, rare, and probably not hiring in your market.
What I do
Two service lines. Most engagements start with the first and pick up the second only if it helps.
Advisory
Process review, systems selection, and automation — plus custom tools built where off-the-shelf software genuinely doesn't fit. The goal is fewer hours spent moving data between systems, and numbers you can trust before the month closes.
- Process and controls review
- Systems selection and implementation
- Workflow automation
- Custom internal tools
Accounting & Tax
The compliance foundation underneath the advisory work. Books that close on time and reporting that answers questions instead of raising them — with tax handled by the same person who understands how the business actually runs.
- Bookkeeping and monthly close
- Tax planning and preparation
- Controller-level support
- Reporting and cash forecasting
How it works
Assessment
A fixed-scope look at how the work actually moves today — the systems, the handoffs, and where the time goes. You end with a written picture and a prioritized list, whether or not you do anything else with me.
Build
We fix the things worth fixing, in priority order: the process changes, the system, the automation, the tool. Scoped in phases so you see value before the whole thing is done.
Ongoing
Whatever needs a steady hand afterward — the monthly close, the tax work, or continued support on what we built. Optional, and easy to stop.
About
I'm an accountant who builds software. That means I can read your books, understand why your operations look the way they do, and then actually build the thing that fixes it — instead of handing you a slide deck and a vendor list.
That combination is unusual, and it's the whole reason this practice exists. Advisory work normally splits in two: a consultant who diagnoses but can't build, and a developer who builds but has to be told what the numbers mean. Every handoff between those two is where projects lose their way.
Work runs in phases with a written scope, so you always know what the next step costs before you commit to it — and you can stop after any one of them.
Let's talk
A 30-minute call, no charge. Tell me where the work is piling up and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help — and if I can't, who or what could.
